Born December 4, 1911, in Upper Tract, W.Va., she was a daughter of the late Vernon Preston and Ida Florence (Hyre) Hedrick. She was also preceded in death by her two husbands, James R. Barnard and Lou Alexander; and two brothers, Herschel and Vernon "Press" Hedrick.
Mrs. Alexander was a retired practical nurse from Mt. Wilson State Hospital, a lifetime member of First United Methodist Church and the Rachael Group. She was a graduate of Keyser High School and Hopemont Sanitarium Nursing School.
Surviving are her daughter, Delores A. Bowen and husband, Curtis of Gerrardstown; a brother, Harold Hedrick and wife, Edna of Clarkston, Wash.; six grandchildren, Steven Bowen, Kenneth Bowen, Bradley Bowen, Bonnie Gordon, Sandra Der and Sherry Marinos; and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Hedrick and Alice Hedrick, both of Keyser.
Friends will be received at the Markwood Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 27, 2004, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, July 28, 2004, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Gordon T. Humphreys officiating.
Interment will follow in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, Md.
