World War I German Fighter Pilot Flying Ace. Perhaps the most famous military aviator from World War I, he was credited with shooting down 80 Allied aircraft. He was shot down by Allied ground fire only two weeks before his 26th birthday. He was given a funeral with full military honors by the Allied forces.

This photo shows the area in the Invaliden Friedhof where von Richthofen was buried with military honors. A remaining portion of the Berlin Wall can be seen on the left. The graves to the right of the Wall are those of Ernst Udet and Werner Moelders (q.v.).

This is the marker for the original position of the Red Barons grave. However the body was moved to Weisbaden when the cemetary was partially dug up for the Berlin wall
