Many Nell Manley Reid was the daughter of Charles Jackson Manley and Maude Mae "Martin" Starnes of Carnesville, Georgia. She was married to William Lowry Reid (II), son of William Lowry Reid and Mary Jane "Janie" Burns of Avon, Fairfield County, SC.
Although her family didn't have the money to send her to college, she had a brilliant mind and loved to stay current with international events. She and Lowry put 4 children through college. She enjoyed gardening and was a flower show judge. At age 50 she had surgery for breast cancer and was in remission for a number of years. However after 5 years the cancer returned and she died at age 58.
