Jennie Sandy Acosta, 70, of Port Hueneme, died in her home Saturday, March 10, 2012.
Jennie was born in Oxnard as one of 11 children to Luciano and Frances Franco. Jennie graduated from Santa Clara High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Joseph C. Acosta, in 1961. Together they had seven children and resided in Oxnard. In 2004 Jennie retired as the principal X-Ray technician of UCLA.
While she was proud of her work, her retirement allowed her to relax, support and appreciate the loved ones around her to the fullest. As the matriarch of her family, Jennie lead them with her faith and devotion to God. Her strong will, passion and desire created a solid foundation for the Acosta family. With her accepting and loving nature she was adored and known as "Mom" to many besides her children.
Always young at heart, Jennie enjoyed family parties, watching films, living near the beach, and Bingo. But nothing measured up to just spending time with her entire family. Jennie was a remarkable person and will remain in the hearts and forever missed by all of her family and friends. Jennie was a loving and beloved sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 28 years.
Jennie is survived by her five siblings seven children, 13 grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Isaiah 40:31 "But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint."
Friends and family may visit from 5 until 9 p.m. with a rosary in her honor at 7 p.m. at Reardon Funeral Home, 511 North A St., Oxnard, CA 93030, Thursday, March 15. Services celebrating her life will be held at Santa Clara Parish, 323 South E St., Oxnard, CA 93030, at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 16. Burial to follow at Santa Clara Cemetery.
