Ben Herbert Abbott, 94, of Ridgely, TN, formerly of Dyersburg, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at Signature Healthcare of Ridgely.

Ben was born on August 23, 1926, in Blytheville, AR, to the late Charles and Mattie Thompson Abbott. He was the retired owner and ag pilot of Abbott Flying Service and flew airplanes for over 55 years. Ben was a member of First Baptist Church in Dyersburg and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, October 2, 2020 at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Hickman officiating. Dyersburg Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Family members and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery.

Survivors include his son, Charles Milo Abbott (Kathy) of Dyersburg, TN; a brother, Jonathan Abbott (Margaret) of Blytheville, AR; a sister, Billie Jean Barnes of Wetumpka, AL; three grandchildren, Hollie Hudlow (Aaron), Betsy Hayes (Josh) and Ashley Abbott; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan Hudlow, Emily Hudlow, Ava Hayes, Henry Hayes and Abbott Hayes.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Imogene Campbell Abbott; and a son, Jerry Wayne Abbott.

Pallbearers will be Kurt Ball, Josh Hayes, Tom Barnes, Joe Warmath, Ethan Hudlow and Aaron Hudlow. Honorary pallbearers will be David Hay and Buddy Abbott.
