GAINESBORO ­ Funeral services for Douglas Ray Allen, 63, of Gainesboro will be held today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of Anderson Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Allentown Cemetery in the New Salem Community of Jackson County.

Mr. Allen died Friday morning, June 19, 1998 at Cookeville Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 19, 1934 in Jackson County and was the son of Betty Ann Gipson Allen of Gainesboro and the late Lewis K. Allen.

He was a resident of the McCoinsville Community of Jackson County. He also served in the US Army.

In addition to his mother, his family includes his wife, Mildred Mahaney Allen of Gainesboro; three daughters, Sherrie McMillan and Melinda Steward, both of Gainesboro, and Jennie Loftis of Cookeville; one step-daughter, Diane Hackett of Carthage; five brothers, Clay Allen of Sharpsville, Ind., Eugene Allen of Gainesboro, Carl Allen of Gordonsville, Ralph Allen of Orangevale, Calif., and Paul Allen of Midfield, Ala.; one sister, Barbara Nemore of Gainesboro; four grandchildren, two step grandchildren and one step great grandchild.

Bros. James Paul Anderson and Jimmy Anderson will officiate at the services.
