James Wesley Oliver, 77, of Locust Bayou, AR, died Sunday March 11, 2012 at his home.

Mr. Oliver was born in Hampton, AR on April 3, 1934 to the late Frank & Dorothy Oliver.

Mr. Oliver was a great husband, & father, who loved each & every one of his family members, he never met a stranger & always had a story to tell. He was an avid outdoorsman, who loved to hunt, fish, garden, & trap. His hunting & fishing buddy was Bill Proffitt. He loved his dog Dixie who was his sidekick, who went on many road trips with Mr. Oliver. He was a retired logger, & a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in East Camden.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Dorothy Oliver; his step-mother, Ellen Rigsby; three brothers, Leonard, Ben, & Marlon Oliver; a sister, Martha Kennedy; & a granddaughter, Christan Lynn Oliver.

Mr. Oliver is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mary Elizabeth Oliver; a son, Ronald "Bub" Oliver & his wife Debbie of Locust Bayou, AR; two daughters, Regina Stringfellow & her husband Ronald of Locust Bayou, AR, Janet "Sissy" Wallace & her husband Chris of El Dorado, AR; a sister, Marylin Scroggins & her husband Charles of Smackover, AR; a grandson, Michael Stringfellow of Norphlet, AR; two step-grandchildren, Jason Wallace of Atlanta, GA, Melody Grice of New Edinburg, AR; two great nephews, Brandon Goodner & his wife Alisha of Magnolia, AR, Chris Goodner of Magnolia, AR; & numerous great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the Calvary Baptist Church in East Camden, AR. Burial will be in Lakeside Cemetery, with the Rev. Don Phillips officiating. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.com.
