Harold B. Anderson, age 96, of Portage, passed away Saturday, March 10, 2012 at Willows Nursing Home in Valparaiso.
Harold was a longtime Hobart resident and retired mail clerk from the Hobart Post Office. He was a WW II US Navy Veteran and formerly employed at Jones & Frum Funeral Home for 8 years as a funeral assistant. Harold was a member of Hobart Masonic McClelland Lodge #357 F.&A.M and member of Barrington Ridge Baptist Church.
He is survived by three children: Karen Anders of Hobart, Randall "Randy" Anderson of Washington State, Dennis (Lucille) Anderson of Crestwood, KY; sister, Ethyl Purdy of Florida; 10 grandchildren: Debby (Bob) Evans, Joe (Lourdes) Anders, Randy (Kerry) Anderson, Ron Anderson, Bob (Jen) Anderson, Russ Anderson, Rick (Jen) Anderson, Rodney Anderson, Roger Anderson, Amanda Anderson; and 13 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in wife, Evelyn Anderson; two brothers: Jack and Richard Anderson; son-in-law, Joe Anders.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 14, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Rees Funeral Home, 600 W. Old Ridge Rd., Hobart, with Pastor Mitch Whidden officiating. Burial will follow at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 13, 2012 from 2:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Rees Funeral Home, Hobart Chapel, 219-942-2109
