BACA -- Urcy Chavez Baca, 76, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 10, 2005, her 55th Wedding Anniversary. She was surrounded by her loving family. Urcy had a great love of life that you could see in her beautiful smile and in her laugh. She was very well liked by everyone who met her. Urcy took pleasure in many activities. She loved to dance and especially loved Mariachi music. Urcy got together with her sisters every Monday to eat and go shopping. She could not pass up a bargain. She spent much of her time doing ceramics at the Barelas Community Center. Urcy ran her own restaurant for over 27 years and incorporated many of her own recipes into the menu. At Monica's El Portal Restaurant Urcy was "The Boss" - she was the head sopaipilla maker and very good with public relations. Urcy thought the best thing in life was to be able to eat and especially loved chocolate. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She took pride in decorating for the holiday and spending time with the family she loved. She will be dearly missed. Mrs. Baca was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nora Chavez; son, Brucie Baca; brothers, Fermin and Wilfred Chavez; and sister, Ruby Cordova. Mrs. Baca is survived by her husband of 55 years, Rudolph L. Baca; sisters, Carmel Aragon, Jerry Gallegos, and Esther Purdy and husband, Jerry Purdy; children, Rudy Baca, Gloria Baca and husband, Michael Chavez, Mark Baca and wife, Carol Baca, Monica Tucker and husband, Bill Tucker, Celia Baca (Purcella) and Randy Chavez, Trish Baca and husband, Rick Chavez and Lucille Baca and Steven Morse. She is also survived by her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, Santiago Lopez, Teresa Lopez, Alycia Baca, Lanneah Baca, Andrea Tucker, Marianna Tucker, Robert Purcella, Felicia Purcella, Jacob Chavez, and Nico Chavez. A Rosary for Mrs. Baca will be recited on Tuesday evening, December 13, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. with visitation beginning at 5:00 p.m. at Salazar & Sons Mortuary. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2005 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church where the Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
