Monument Builder Dead

Frank Ackerman, the designer and builder of the red rock monument that stands at the west entrance of the city of Camas, died at his home, Saturday, Feb. 26, 1938. He was 64 years old. Death came after the bursting of the aorta close to the heart.
Mr. Ackerman worked as a mechanic in the C.W.P. Co. mill for many years and was widely known as a stone mason of high ability. Years ago he established the Red Rock Quarry on his property west of town. Crown Point on the Columbia River highway, the postoffice building and the Paramount theater building in Portland were a few of the big jobs on which he was employed.
Besides his widow, Martha Marie Ackerman, he leaves a daughter, Mrs, Marie Beals, and two sons, John and Franklin Ackerman all of Camas.
Funeral services were held at Swank's chapel Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Weitzenkamp officiating,. Interment ws in the Portland mausoleum. Mr. Ackerman was a member of the Moose Lodge.
