Mike leaves to mourn his passing, two brothers, Rogers Cummings, Sr. of Englewood, Florida and Mark Ryan Cummings of Arnold, Missouri, his mother Louise and stepfather Lloyd of Arnold, Missouri, many cousins, friends and relatives. His uncles, James R. Tull of St. Louis, Luther E. Tull of Goodyear, Arizona, Gary E. Tull of Knob Noster, Missouri and Robert Hunt of Huntington, Indiana. His aunts, Glenda Tull Hunt of Huntington, Mabel Daniel, Grace West, Shirley Smoke and Nadine Pigg, all of Tennessee, his stepmother, Phyllis Thomas Cummings of Palmetto, Florida. His nieces, Audrey Jean Shockley Cummings of Florida, Mary L. Cummings of Center, Missouri and nephew Roger Keith Cummings and wife Becky of Imperial, Missouri. He has a great niece and nephew, Libby Ellen and Bradley Keith of Englewood, Florida.
Mike was loved by all of his family and friends and especially by his namesake, his great nephew, Pierce Michael Cummings, who loved his Uncle Mike very much. They had a great time together this past weekend celebrating both of their birthdays with separate parties.
Mike graduated in 1976 from Deering High School, he was President of his class. He then went to college in Cape Girardeau and Arkansas State in Jonesboro. He worked for Hays Store, Swindles Stores and most of his life at Brown Shoe Company. He retired on disability a few years ago with serious health problems. At the time of his death, he lived alone in his home in Campbell, Missouri which he just bought last Fall.
Funeral services were held February 28 at 2:00 p.m. in the John W. German Funeral Home in Hayti. Burial was in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Hayti. Pallbearers were Roger Cummings, Sr., Roger Cummings, Jr., Mark Cummings, Orville Tull, Bill McCoy and Dave Niemann. Honorary pallbearers were Lloyd Hodges and Steve Shaw.
John W. German Funeral Home of Hayti was in charge of the arrangements.
