"Born in Scranton, daughter of the late John and Felexia Roskoski Lashinski, she was educated in Scranton schools. She was employed as a house mother for the CMC school of nursing prior to her retirement. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Valeria traveled with her three young children to the remote mining town of Suntrana, Alaska, in 1952. It was a very difficult trip, being that Alaska was a U.S. territory before becoming a state in 1959. Following the death of her husband, she returned to her homestead in North Scranton.

Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ann Joiner, Auburndale, Fla.; and Anna Wrobel and husband, Charles, Factoryville; a son, Frank P. Narusch, Anchorage, Alaska; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Sophie Kosty, Veronica Dobrydney, Mary Novak, Anna Lashinski and Alice Yanchik; and three brothers, Walter Lashinski, Joseph Lashinski and an infant brother."
