She was born Feb. 2, 1921, in Santa Rosa to Salome and Victoria Chavez Garcia.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Edward Alires; five sisters and a brother.
Family members said she was a homemaker and hard working, and was also a seamstress. She sewed clothes for her children and dressed them all alike.
Survivors include three sisters, Mela Armijo, Flora Gonzales and Lupe Duran; seven children, Daniel Garcia of Scottsdale, Ariz., Joe Alires of LaPuente, and Paul Alires, Maggie Garcia and Susan Arnold, all of Albuquerque, Angie Cordova of Clovis and Pablo Alires of Tucumcari; 17 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.
Rosary will be said at 7 tonight at Steed-Todd Chapel in Clovis.
The Rev. Sotero Sena will be celebrant at the Mass.
Burial will be at Mission Garden of Memories in Clovis.
