He was born April 23, 1924 in Chippewa Falls, the son of Newell and Mary (Comerford) Hunt. He married Shirley Shevlin on Jan. 26, 1946, at St. Margaret’s of Scotland Church in Chicago. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Marine Sergeant during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He had owned Lake Wissota Beach Resort “Pay Beach” from 1970 to 1987.
He was a charter member of the Lake Wissota Lions Club, the Glazier Union Local #27 of Chicago, an honorary member of the 3:00 Club and Notre Dame Church.
He is survived by four sons, Dean (Carol) of Westerville, Ohio, Dave (Sue), Dan (Jan) and Doug (Bev), all of Chippewa Falls; one daughter, Linda (Bob) Valiska of Country Club Hills, Ill.; one brother, Jim (Sally) Hunt of San Diego, Calif.; three sisters, JoAnne (Bob) Fesenmaier of Lake Geneva, Miriam (LaMoine) Robertson of Eau Claire and Judy (Jim) LaBelle of Holcombe; 12 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; his parents; and one sister, Pat Werlein.
Funeral services will be held at noon on Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at Notre Dame Church, Chippewa Falls. Interment will be in Bateman Cemetery, town of Lafayette. Military rites will be conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004, and until 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Horan Funeral Home, Chippewa Falls. There will be a Christian Vigil Service at 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
He loved fishing, his friends, raking leaves, riding in the car and his trips to Gordy’s.
His family will miss him very much.
