Ruth M. (Chatfield) Northup, R.N., formerly of Braintree, passed away on January 18 at the age of 88. She was born in Quincy, MA. She was a graduate of Bridgewater High School and received nurse's training at New England Deaconess Hospital in Boston. She was an active member of The First Congregational Church in Braintree where she was a member of the choir and the English Handbells Choir. In her later years she moved to Hingham, Ma. where she was a member of the singing group The Opals. Ruth was known for her devotion to her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert H. Northup. She was the devoted mother of Allen Northup and his wife Margaret of Brunswick, Maine and Robin D'Ampolo and her husband Dave of Braintree. She was the loving grandmother of Jess Northup, Colin Northup, Stephen D'Ampolo and Mari D'Ampolo. She was predeceased by one brother, William Chatfield of Braintree. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 10 at 11 a.m. at The First Congregational Church in Braintree.
