According to his death certificate, his marker which is very new was added along time after his death and has the wrong death dates. And while he may have died in the area called the Combs community (which is now part of the total Speedwell incorporation), he was not born there.

He was a Pvt in Co K 14th Ky Calvary
Enlisted 22 Dec 1862. Discharged 25 Feb 1864

John was a blacksmith (in his younger years), a farmer, a Post master (appointed on 29 April 1897) for a time in the Wesley Dist., and the pastor of Red Hill Baptist Church.

John and Tishia were married 9 Oct 1870 in Claiborne Co., TN by Rev F. M. Oatey.
