Josephine was the daughter of Ruben A. and Jane Cockrill Francis. On October 14, 1863 in Lewis County, West Virginia she married Clinton Huston Davis, son of Joshua and Hanah Bell Davis. They were the parents of Martha Jane, Columbus Franklin, Rose Alice, Ida Ella, Anna Mary, William Merton, Lillie Bell, Etta Blanche and Josephine L.
