Joe E. Girón of Santa Fé NM, passed away and went to meet the Lord on February 26, 2012.
Joe was born in La Petaca, New Mexico on April 13, 1923 to Soraida L. and Abelino A. Girón and married Julia A. Girón on January 2, 1951 in Ranchos de Taos, NM.
Joe was preceded in death by his wife, Julia A. Girón, father, Abelino A. Girón, mother, Soraida L. Girón and four brothers.
Joe is survived by son, Gene Girón and his wife, Amy M. Smith, both of Lone Tree, CO, son, Gary L. J. Girón and significant other, Angela Medrano, daughter, Helen L. Girón, all of Rio Rancho, NM, sister, Judy Morelos and sister, Marie Girón.
Joe was a United States Marine and Purple Heart recipient who served in World War II from 1942 through 1946 and saw combat in the Pacific theatre.
Joe was a good man and good father who embodied a strong work ethic and was dedicated to his family.
Joe will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
A visitation will take place on Friday, March 2, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Christian Life Fellowship, 121 Siringo Rd., Santa Fé, NM. A funeral service will follow from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Interment will take place at Santa Fé National Cemetery, Santa Fé, NM at 1:30 p.m. the same day. Pallbearers will be Gene Girón, Gary Girón, Ervin Aldaz, Ray Baca, Dennise Bridgers and Kayla Baker.
