Lee Judson Davis, 93, a lifetime resident of Fairfield, passed away on February 27, 2012 in Fairfield. Mr. Davis was born August 23, 1918 in Teague, Texas to Lee Judson Davis Sr. and Fannilu Burleson Davis.

He attended Fairfield High School, graduating in 1935 with honors. Mr. Davis then attended The University of Texas in Austin where he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, National Honorary BBA Fraternity, and Phi Eta Sigma, a National Honorary Freshman Men's Fraternity. Mr. Davis graduated in 1939 with a Bachelor of Business Administration.

During World War II, Mr. Davis served three years as a Chief Warrant Officer in the U. S. Army. After the war he returned to Fairfield where he was employed by the Fairfield State Bank from 1946 until he retired in 1976 after serving as President for 7 years. Mr. Davis then began his own real estate company and was instrumental in the growth of Fairfield.

Mr. Davis served his community in many ways. He served as a president of the Chamber of Commerce, Post Commander of the American Legion, Worshipful Master and treasurer of the Masonic Lodge, president of the Freestone County Game Management Association, secretary of the Fairfield Rodeo Association, member of the Texas Veterans Land Board, director of the Freestone County Hospital, and member of the Fairfield Independent School District Board of Trustees. Mr. Davis was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School, was a Sunday School Director, served as Treasurer, and led the choir. In his leisure time, he enjoyed hunting, golf and tennis.

Lee Judson Davis was married to another Fairfield native, Kathryn Miles, on July 26, 1941. In 2011, they celebrated their 70th Wedding Anniversary. They had three children, Sara Kathryn (Kathy) Sladek, George Miles (Sherry) Davis, and Warren Judson (Linda) Davis who blessed them with seven grandchildren: Kathleen (Jim) Childs, Susanna (Charles) Kohlmyer, Robert (Jaime) Sladek, Dr. Amanda (Greg) Green, Dr. Georganna (James) Miles, Benjamin (Regan) Davis and Judson D. Davis. In addition, Mr. Davis had 10 great-grandchildren: Andrew and Reid Childs, Zachary and Matthew Kohlmyer, Ruby and Sam Henry Sladek, Davis and Madeline Green, Nola and Adelaide Miles.
