Father Richard was born in New Prague on August 10, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank & Christine (Bastyr) Skluzacek; siblings, Leonard (Lonjean), Adeline (Don) Verette, Mary (Elwood) Hooper, Robert, Roland, Marcie (John) Pesta, Henneritta (Lawrence) Tuma and Dorothy (Joseph) Hennelly. brother-in-law, Oscar Schneller. He is survived by his sister, Agnes Schneller and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Lonsdale, Minn., with visitation on Wednesday, February 29, 2012, from 5-8 p.m. at the White Funeral Home,in Lonsdale and 1 hour prior to Mass at the funeral home. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery, Lonsdale.
Father Richard's ordination took place on Feb. 17, 1957, he served at St. Stanislaus in St. Paul for nine years; St. Stephens, Anoka, for one year; Holy Redeemer, Montgomery from 1967-68; Most Holy Trinity, Veseli, from 1969-74; St. Nicholas, New Market, from 1970-74; Corpus Christi, St. Paul, from 1974-1978; St. Joseph, Hopkins, from 1978-90; Veterans Hospital from 1990-98 before his retirement.
