Geraldine Mary Meyer was born September 2, 1928 in Arco, Minnesota to Fred and Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Wynn) Bauman. She grew up on the family farm east of Lake Benton, Minnesota and attended country school. She was baptized at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church, rural Lake Benton. On August 29, 1947 Geraldine married Harlan T. Meyer at Diamond Lake Lutheran Church. Their union was blessed with ten children and 59 years of life together. The couple farmed for 41 years, retiring in 1987. Geraldine was a caregiver for Harlan for 11 years prior to his death on May 5, 2007. She continued to live in their country home. On February 27, 2012 Geraldine died at her home at the age of 83 years, 5 months, and 25 days.
Geraldine was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lake Benton where she served with the Ladies Aid, Grace Lutheran Church Women, and the quilting group. She was also a member of a birthday club. She enjoyed baking, sewing, gardening, and yard work, and especially enjoyed time spent with her family.
Geraldine is lovingly remembered by her children, Kathleen (and Steven) Nordmeyer of Lake Benton, Minnesota, Barbara (and Dave) Prosch of Lake Benton, Caroline (and Michael) Otto of Lake Benton, Melvin Meyer of Lake Benton, Allan (and Anne) Meyer of Zumbro Falls, Minnesota, Rita (and Desmond) Stueven of Lake Benton, Mary (and Donald) Kerkaert of Windom, Minnesota, Susan (and Dale) Lozinski of Canby, Minnesota, and Sandra (and David) Lacek of Ivanhoe, Minnesota; 28 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Reisgaard of Audubon, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harlan; a daughter, Betty Lou Meyer; 2 grandsons, Chad Nordmeyer and Robert Otto; her parents; 3 brothers, Robert, Kenneth, and Donald Bauman; and a sister, Marvel Nelson.
