From the Quincy Herald Whig - 18 July 1875
Sudden Death of an Old Citizen,-Quincy is again called upon this morning to mourn the death of another old and respected citizen yesterday morning. Mr Henry Barth, residing on Jersey Street was taken from among us very unexpectedly and without scarcely a moments warning. He came down as usual, apparently feeling as well as ever, but before long he began feeling unwell and went home where he was taken worse almost immediately and died within an hour. A physician was called but it was too late as the disease was the one that is dreaded by all, congestion of the brain, from which few ever recover. The deceased came to Quincy in 1836, and was one of the oldest and most respected citizens. He leaves several children, all grown and a large circle of friends who will mourn his death. The funeral will take place from his late residence, 630 Jersey Street at 4 o'clock this afternoon.

Military Service- Private in the Civil War 25th IL Infantry Co A 8/4/1861-9/4/1864
