Marie Garey Broadstreet passed away at Baptist Hospital in Union City, TN. She had recently made her home at Magnolia Place. Marie had called St. Mary Manor in Jackson her home for twenty years where she had served as President of the Resident Council.

Graveside services were held at the cemetery and a memorial reception was given at St. Mary Manor on February 4th. Lawrence-Sorensen Funeral Home was in charge of the services.

Mrs. Broadstreet was born in Bemis to the late Chester and Lillie Barger Garey. She married Eugene Kenneth Broadstreet December 25, 1942 in Corinth, MS while he was on leave during World War II. Marie graduated from Lavinia/Trezevant School serving as basketball team captain and class president. She attended Secretarial College in Nashville. She was the business owner of the first 24-hour telephone answering service in Jackson, a floral designer at Burnley's Flower Shop, and collected antiques with her husband. She was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church in Jackson.

She is survived by her daughter, Judy Broadstreet Barker, and her son-in-law, Wayne Barker, of Union City; her son, Michael Broadstreet, of Calhoun, TN; grandchildren, Jason Broadstreet, Angela Sloan, Tyler Barker and Parks Barker; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton Sloan and Ryleigh Broadstreet.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Bartie Garey, James Garey and Clyde Garey.
