Death of Mrs. Lumpkins

Mrs. Evaline Lumpkins died October 28, aged 59 years and 23 days. The funeral services were held this morning in the First Christian church, conducted by the Rev. Luther Sellers. A quartette (sic) composed of D. S. Kelly, J. T. Burton, Mrs. L. Sellers and Mrs. Leonard rendered some very fine music.

Mrs. Lumpkins was born in Indiana, October 5, 1840. and moved to this county in 1859. She was married to George W. Lumpkins in April 1862. In the fall of the same year, her husband enlisted in this city in Company C, Eleventh Kansas Cavalry - Colonel Plumb's regiment - and served until the close of the war. Nine children were born to them, four of whom have preceded the mother to the great beyond. Of the remaining children, Mrs. James M. Brown lives in Anderson county, and the others, William, George and Roy, and Mrs. Chas. Carle, reside in this city.

Mrs. Lumpkins was an earnest Christian woman. She was a member of the Methodist Protestant church and the W.R.C. of Neosho Rapids.
