Johnnie E. Bruesch, 78, of Lexington died Friday, Dec. 21, at the Veterans Center of Norman, after a long illness. Services will be 11 a.m. today at Havenbrook Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Butch Hodges officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at the Wanette Cemetery in Wanette.
Bearers will be Tyler Allen, Matthew Allen, Boyd Roberts, Brian Sewall and Kenny Slate. Honorary bearers will be Floyd Marshall, Bill Gould and Bill Cider. Services are under the direction of Havenbrook Funeral Home of Norman.
Mr. Bruesch was born April 20, 1929, in Norman to Fred and Ollie Barnard Bruesch. He served in the United States Army during WWII and in Korea. He married Patricia Young and together they raised four daughters. He and Patricia were married 35 years. A concrete contractor for 45 years, he enjoyed fishing, hunting and working with horses.
Mr. Bruesch was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lee and Loyal Bruesch; two sisters, Zella and Rose; and one stepson, Glen Matthews.
He is survived by four daughters, Gwen Marti and husband Jimmy, Gayla Allen and husband Rod, Charlotte Sewall and husband Brian and Sheryl Shobert and husband Wayne Jr.; 10 grandchildren, Janice and Bobby Howard of Norman, Jody Marti of Norman, Tyler and Becky Allen of Noble, Shayla and Boyd Roberts of Ringling, Matthew Allen of Edmond, Jennifer Matthews of Seattle, Shawn and Kathy Sewall of Mississippi, Cherry Leann Matthews of Missouri and Teddy Matthews of Washington; and 15 great-grandchildren.
