L. Marie Wood, 57, of Springfield died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2004, at Golden Moments Senior Care in Jacksonville. She was born July 18, 1946 in Morrisonville, the daughter of Clarence L. and Lola Mae Hagen Gatton. She married Lloyd E. Wood in 1981 in Springfield; he died in 2002. Mrs. Wood was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. Survivors: two sons, James E. (wife, Traci) Massey of New Berlin and John (wife, Jenny) Massey of Kettering, Ohio; three daughters, Johnnie (husband, Ron) Birch of New Berlin, Jacqueline McDaniel of Berlin and JoLaine (husband, John) Miner of Rochester; three stepsons, Stan, Dick and Mike Wood; two stepdaughters, Vickie McCain and Mary Romans; 11 grandchildren; a brother, Clarence E. Gatton of Petersburg; three sisters, Ruth Gebhardt and Shirley Griffitts, both of Springfield, and Lois Nass of Colverville, Tenn.; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Cremain rites were accorded by Springfield Crematory. Memorial gathering: 6 p.m. Wednesday, Ellinger-Kunz and Davis Funearl Home. Graveside services: 11 a.m. Friday, Antioch Cemetery in Shelbyville, the Rev. Bob Gebhardt officiating.
