Ernest O. Affeld, 76, of 1506 Wood St., died in Porter Memorial Hospital at 11:50 p.m. Sunday.
Born August 19, 1885 near Chesterton, he was the son of Gustav and Minnie Affeld. He lived in Porter County all his life.
He married Jennie Bastel on October 6, 1904, in South Bend. She died in 1932.
He was a farmer and carpenter at Dunes State Park.
Surviving are three sons, Howard of South Bend, Robert and Vernon, Valparaiso; four daughters, Misses Erma, Treva and Florence at home, and Mrs. Virgil (Rosella) Hess of Hobart and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers and two sisters.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Wetmore Funeral Home. The Rev. Duane Schroeder, Trinity Lutheran Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Maplewood Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 p.m. Tuesday until services.
