George A. Howard, 71, of Ellisburg Street, Sandy Creek, died Saturday morning, February 22, 1975 at the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient for two weeks.

He was born in Henderson, N.Y., November 11, 1903, the son of Bert and Mary Curtiss Howard, and attended Sandy Creek Schools. He was married to Ruth Nutting, October 24, 1922 at the Ellisburg Methodist parsonage,and the couple lived all their married life in Sandy Creek. Mrs. Howard died November 19, 1972 after a four year illness.

Mr. Howard engaged in farming and was later employed by the Blount Lumber Company. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sandy Creek.

Mr. Howard is survived by one son, Paul Howard, of Route 3, Pulaski; two grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews.

Another son, Pfc. Ralph Howard, a member of the 48th Field Artillery, reported missing in action in Korea on July 14, 1950, was declared by the United States War Department to have died November 20, 1950 of malnutrition in a North Korean prison camp.

Two sisters of Mr. Howard also pre-deceased him; Mrs. Edwin (Doris) Zufelt died August 27, 1946 and Mrs. Emery (Laura) Scoville died May 6, 1929.

Funeral services for Mr. Howard were held Monday at the Summerville Funeral Home, Sandy Creek, the Rev. Ivan Greenfield, pastor of the United Methodist Church officiating. Spring burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Sandy Creek.
