Darren Scott Hettinger. Dedicated Husband,Father,Son and Brother Passed away on April 14th 2003. Darren was Born and raised in Spokane, Washington He graduated from West Valley High School in 1980. He recieved a degree in Law enforcement from Spokane Community College. He served as a cadet with the Medical Lake Washington police dept, as well as the Spokane County Sheriff's Dept. He began working with the Washington State Patrol in 1985, was stationed in Brewster Washington in 1986. He then moved to Burlington Washington in 1994,where he worked as a detective until 1997. He was selected to become a liaison between law enforcement and the Federal railroad Adm. in Washington D.C. for a year. He returned to Washington State in 1998 and became an instructor at the Washington State Patrol Academy near Olympia,Washington until 2001. He then became a Washington State Patrol trooper in the Oak Harbor/Whidbey Island Washington area. Darren recieved commendations for perventing a suicide and helping solve a murder. Darren enjoyed Fishing,camping and restoring his 1930 Chevy coupe.
Darren is survived by his wife of 16 years, Marlene; a son Derick, two Daughters, Myranda and Lauryl all of Sedro-Woolley,Washington. Parents, Herb and Deidre of Spokane Valley Washington. Sisters, Dori Hettinger and Deana Rickman, both of Spokane Washington, and Debbie Schindler of Puyallup, Washington. Proceeded in death by younger brother Dana. This great man will be missed dearly by so many, not only family and friends but those in the extended family in Law enforcement.
