Maria Louisa Davis Batchelder
Maria Louisa Davis was born October 2, 1864 in Illinois. She was the sixth child of James E. Davis and Nancy Jane Dunlap Davis.
On November 9, 1889 in Calhoun County, Illinois, she married William Warren Batchelder and became the stepmother to his three daughters, Albinah, Elizabeth and Rose. On August 19, 1890, in Batchtown, Illinois, her first son, Austin Lowe Batchelder was born, and on May 21, 1892, her second son, James Lloyd Batchelder was also born in Batchtown, Illinois.
Sometime after her husband's death on March 6, 1906 and before 1910, Maria, her two sons, and her stepdaughter, Elizabeth Jane Batchelder, moved to St. Louis. Between the 1910 census and 1920 census, Maria and her two sons moved from St. Louis, Missouri to Los Angeles, California. The 1930 Alhambra census lists Maria as a servant to Luke and Robert Hubbard.
