From 1917 to 1921, she attended Kansas State Agricultural College in Manhattan, Kansas, where she majored in Home Economics, graduating with the class of 1921. Her senior year, she was a member of the National Eurodelphian Literary Society, as well as Baseball Manager for the Executive Council of the Athletic Association.
Gladys became a teacher at Penn State in State College, Pennsylvania.
On 17 December 1932, Gladys married Boyd Funston Agnew, also from Kansas. They resided in Alhambra, California until her death in 1980.
