Isaac Behar was born in Edirne, Turkey on November 8, 1890, son of Joseph and Rebecca (Chicron) Behar. His father died when he was about sixteen years old. On November 25, 1910, Isaac married Soloucha Hasdai in Kirklareli, Turkey. He left Turkey for Patras, Greece in the summer of 1913. It was in Patras that he boarded a ship to America. He arrived at Ellis Island on September 18, 1913. Due to the Great War and conflict in Turkey, his wife Soloucha could not travel to America until 1920. They would have two sons. First, Louis on June 13, 1922 and Joseph on March 15, 1925; both born in Manhattan's Lower East Side. In early 1944, Isaac, Soloucha (referred to as Sophie for the rest of her life), and their youngest son Joseph moved to Los Angeles, California to join Isaac's family. Isaac suffered a heart attack and died on December 19, 1954 at his home in Los Angeles.
