CITIZEN PASSES AWAY

The entire community was shocked by the sudden death of Mr. Alfred Bohl Friday, April 9, 1948, at 8:15 a.m., at his home near Moore.

Alfred Peter Bohl was born December 15, 1884, at Castroville, Medina County, Texas. He was the son of the late Eugene Leo Bohl and Louisa Jungmann Bohl of Devine, Texas. When Alfred was a toddler, his father owned and operated a hardware store in Hondo. Later, his parents settled their family on a farm near Devine, Texas.

Alfred was married to Annie Schneider on January 26, 1909, in Devine. They then moved to Frio County where he was engaged in farming and ranching until the time of his death.

He was a great sportsman and his most enjoyment was raising wolf hounds and hunting wolves. He also was a great lover of game chickens.

Alfred was a good citizen, a Christian and a good father and husband. He was loved by all who knew him.

Funeral services were conducted at 10:30 a.m. April 10, at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father Andres, his pastor, assisted by Fathers Alexander, Simon and Boehme.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Annie Bohl; daughters Irene Bohl of Moore, Marie Bohl and Alene Bohl of Pearsall, Bertha Graham and Lois Shelton of Devine; granddaughter Marajean Graham; brothers Alex, Edwin and Leo Bohl of Devine; one sister, Mary FitzSimon of Castroville.

The pallbearers were George Bohl, Leo Bohl, Jr., Edwin Bohl, Jr., Roy Bohl, Claude Jungman, and Cyril Schneider, all nephews of Mr. Bohl.

The funeral was one of the largest ever held in Devine. The floral offerings were numerous and very beautiful.

Interment was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Devine, Texas.
