Clara C. Cutliff, age 91, of Romulus, Michigan died on Monday, February 20, 2012 in the comfort of her home.
Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Tuesday, February 21, 2012 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Wednesday, February 22, 2012 from 2 to 9 PM. Funeral Services will be held at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 11:00 am. She will lie instate from 10 am until time of service. Rev. Richard Hogan will officiate the service. Burial will be in Michigan Memorial Park, Huron Township, Michigan.
Born on January 15, 1921 in Terre Haute, Indiana, she was the daughter of Theodore and Hilda (Shepherd) Schimmel, Sr. On February 16, 1939 she married Louis William Cutliff in Terre Haute, IN.
Clara was one of the "Rosie the Riveter's" who worked at the Willow Run Bomber Plant on the C-130's Flying Box Car Aircraft. She was a cashier with the Kroger Company for 25 years until retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, a 4H leader for 25 years, a Bunko member for 47 years and was an avid fan of the Red Wings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 4 brothers, Chauncey and Theodore, Jr., Lawrence and Freddie.
Surviving is her son, Louis W. Cutliff Jr. of Cleburne, TX; daughter, Patricia Bailey of Taylor; 2 brothers, Donald Schimmel of Flat Rock and Jack Schimmel of IN, 2 sisters, Barbara Raney of Carleton and Joann Hall of Clinton, IN; 7 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren and 10 great-great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Evangelical Lutheran Church Women.
