Church, Hartwell and Glen Haven UMC, Decatur. He served in the Navy during WWII in the Pacific Theater on the USS Van Valkenburgh. Survived by wife of 74 years, Alma Betenbaugh; daughters, Mary (Merrell) Pittman, Sandra (Chuck) Lewis; sons, William "Billy" (Pat) Betenbaugh and Thomas Alvin (Shirley) Betenbaugh, Jr.; brothers, W. H. "Bill" (Irene) Betenbaugh and Carlton (Marion) Betenbaugh; 14 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
