William Ransom Davis, 88, retired farmer, living two and one half miles south of Hartsville, died at 4 o'clock Sunday morning at the county hospital. Death was due to pneumonia. He had been ill of pneumonia since Thursday, at which time he was taken to the hospital from his home.

The body was taken to the Norman funeral home in Hope, where it will remain until Tuesday afternoon. funeral services are to be held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon. at the Hartsville M.E. Church, conducted by the Rev. Charles Galbraith of Burney, assisted by the Rev. Royal Canfield, pastor of the church. Burial is to be made in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery, near Mr. Davis' home.

Mr. Davis was a member of the Mt. Pleasant United Brethren church and lived in this community all of his life. [William Ransom Davis married Olive Joliff Oct. 5, 1873, in Bartholomew Co., Indiana.] Mrs. Davis died about thirty-five years ago. His only daughter was the victim of an automobile accident three years ago last fall.

Survivors include a twin brother, John Davis of Dinuba, Cal., three grandchildren, Mrs. Valford Whitesides of Columbus, Ray Scott of Indianapolis and Mrs. Elbert Vail of Clarksburg, and three great grandchildren.

The casket will be open at the funeral home.
