Irvin M. Grinnen, 97, of DuBois, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2012 at the DuBois Nursing Home.

Born on December 17, 1914, in Coal Glen, PA the son of the late Fred and Mary(Cowie) Grinnen.

Irvin retired from the B & O Railroad after 33 years of service.

He was an active member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church where he taught Sunday school. He also enjoyed sports and played on several softball leagues. He enjoyed gardening, wood working, carpentry and spending time with his family.

Mr. Grinnen is survived by two daughters: Ruth(John) Shaffer of Strasburg, PA and Mae Ireland of Lancaster, PA; a son Irvin(Kathleen) Grinnen of York Springs, PA. Also survived by a brother Andrew Grinnen of Niagara Falls, NY and a sister Norma Brown of Chicago, IL; seven grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and one great- great grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his wife R. Olivette Grinnen, who passed away on June 12, 2010. They celebrated 71 years of marriage. Also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Fred and Calvin Grinnen and a sister Sue Borgeson.
