Beverly J. Ellsworth, 76, of Iowa City, a resident of All American Care Center, Muscatine, formerly of Durant, passed away Friday, February 17, 2012, at Mercy Hospice in Iowa City.

Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, February 20, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice, Iowa City or the Durant Ambulance, in her memory.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, February 21, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant, with Rev. Nate Montover officiating. Pallbearers will be Kevin Ellsworth, David Brown, Joel Brown, Jesse Honts, Mike Honts, Jeffrey Honts and Terry Honts. Burial will be the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Beverly Joyce Ellsworth was born December 2, 1935, in Davenport, the daughter of Dean and Dorothy (Klahn) Ellsworth. She moved with her family from Muscatine to Durant, where she grew up. She graduated from Durant High School in 1953. She was employed at various jobs in the restaurant and janitorial fields. She later became a resident of the All American Care Center in Muscatine and then a resident of Mercy Hospice in Iowa City. She never married. She was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Durant. She loved her garden, her flowers, the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Durant Wildcats. She was a friend to everyone she met.

Surviving are one sister, Sharon Brown of Nichols; one brother, Edward Ellsworth of Wilton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother-in-law, Arlond Brown and one sister-in-law, Margaret Ellsworth.
