January 7, 1927- May 29, 2006 CUTHBERT, GA—

Cecil Brunnel Brooks, 79, of Cuthbert, GA. died May 29, 2006 at Joe-Anne Burgin Nursing Home in Cuthbert. Graveside funeral services will be conducted today, May 31, 2006 at 11 a.m. at Parkhill Cemetery in Columbus with Rev. Tom McClendon officiating, according to Lunsford Funeral Home of Cuthbert.

Mr. Brooks was born January 7, 1927 in Columbus, son of the late Hiram R. Brooks and Velma Rollins Brooks.

A Navy veteran of World War II. Mr. Brooks was retired from Georgia Power Company as a local manager. He was a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church of Cuthbert and was a former member and past president of the Cuthbert Rotary Club.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Tillery Brooks and a brother, Perry Brooks. Survivors include a son, Mark Brooks of Cuthbert; two daughters, Pam B. Wilkes of Ft. Gaines and Lynne Leggett of Blairsville; three brothers, Clifford Brooks of Fortson, George Brooks of Byron and Robert Brooks of Warner Robins; four sisters, Sara Britt of Ellerslie, Beatrice Culpepper of Columbus, Doris Groscost of Waverly Hall and Margie Felgenhouer of Fortson; four grandchildren; Robert and his wife Allethea Brooks, Mandy Brooks, Kaitlyn Leggett and Heath Leggett.
