Died Age: 29 years, 10 months, 9 days

Daughter of Samuel Dana and Anna Kenrick Dana, of Amherst, NH.

First wife of Gov. Samuel Bell. She was only 16 when she married future Gov. and US Senator Samuel Bell, Nov. 26, 1796. She met Samuel Bell when he was studing law under her father, who was ten years older than her.

They had five children before she past at a young age: Chief Justice Samuel Dana (1798), Dr. John (1800), Mary Ann (1802), US Sen. James (1804), and Dr. Luther V. (1806).

It is unclear if she is actually buried here or in Amherst where she died, but there is a faded inscription on the back side of Samuel Bell's monument with Mahitable's information as if she is buried there. It is very possible she is actually buried with family in Amherst, where she and Samuel lived in near by Francestown, NH when she died. The inscription could just be a memorial to her.
