Alan was fourth child and oldest son of E. "Bill" W. Hanes & L. "Lil" B. Miller. Alan died in house fire, caused by faulty electrical wiring.

FAMILY NOTES: Eva Irene (nee Hanes) Pierce statements to Mary "Corky" (nee Logan) Richards for school ancestral research project in October 1961. Alan was sleeping in upstairs bedroom when the farmhouse caught fire, he burned to death. At first it was thought the older children were playing with matches; but the three girls were outside playing in the yard. Faulty electrical wiring turned out to be the cause.
