WHITING - John A. Adkins, 72, formally of Prompton Lakes, died yesterday at Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pequannock.
He was born in Bulter and resided in the Prompton Lakes area until moving to Whiting 4 months ago. He had been a foreman for E.I. duPont Co., Pompton Lakes, until retiring in 1965. He was an Army veteran of WWII, and a member of the John. A. Dean Post No. 154, Butler, American Legion. He was also a member of St. Anthony's Council No. 913, Knights Of Columbus, Butler.
Surviving are his wife, the former Theresa Spengler, a stepdaughter, Mrs. June Lockwood of Wayne; a sister, Mrs. Edwin (Marie) Dow of Pompton Plains; and three grandchildren.
