Adele Veach, 82, of Hawarden died Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Hawarden Community Hospital. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012 at the Associated Church in Hawarden. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Graceland Park Cemetery, Sioux City, IA. Visitation will begin at noon on Friday with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Porter Funeral Home in Hawarden, IA.

Adele was born August 20, 1929 in Canton, SD to Myrtle Ofstad and Lynn Landon. She was raised by her grandparents on a farm near Alcester, SD. Adele graduated from Beresford High School in 1947 where she frequently made the honor role. Upon graduation, Adele found a job at Farmers Lumber Supply in Sioux City, IA as a typist and switchboard operator. She married Glenn Hodgson on September 3, 1948 at Roseni Lutheran Church near Beresford, SD. Adele retired from the Alcester Nursing Home in 1980 where she was a nurses aide. Later in life, Adele married Ira Veach on December 13, 1986 at Victory Chapel in South Sioux City, NE. Ira died April 25, 1994.

Adele is survived by her son, Gary (Pam) Hodgson of Chehalis, WA; daughter, Glenda (Bob) Jager of Hawarden, IA; sister, Juanita Watkins of Sioux City, IA; 3 granddaughters Angela Jager, Melissa (Nathan) Falde, Jodi Hodgson; and 1 great-granddaughter, Caitlyn Falde.

Adele is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Glenn Hodgson and Ira Veach; and brother, Raymond Weidert.
