Nathan Raymond Maddox, 20, died in Klamath Falls, Ore., on Friday, Feb. 11, 2012.

Nathan was born on Sept. 25, 1991, in Clackamas, Ore., to Daniel and Darlene Jensen Maddox. He grew up in Portland, attending Edwards Elementary School, Hosford Middle School and graduating from Cleveland High School in 2010.

Nathan's love for playing basketball began at age eight and continued throughout his life. By the time he graduated from high school, he was an Oregon Scholar Athlete, made Portland's First Team All League Basketball Team and at 6'9" earned a scholarship to play ball for the Oregon Institute of Technology while pursuing a career in mechanical engineering. Within a month of his death during his sophomore year at OIT, his team won the Men's NAIA Division II national title.

Nathan was a born-again Christian and a member of Hinson Church in Portland. He is survived by his parents Daniel and Darlene Jensen Maddox; a brother, Aaron Maddox; two sisters, Katie and Haley Maddox; and his maternal grandmother, Nina Jensen, all of Portland; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins in Oregon, Washington or California.
