Civil War Army Officer. Served during the Civil War as Captain and commander of Company H of the 2nd New Jersey Volunteer Infantry. He was commissioned on May 29, 1861, and resigned on January 7, 1863, having participated in the Spring 1862 Peninsular Campaign, and the Battles of Second Bull Run, South Mountain, and Fredericksburg.
