JOSEPH BAUER DIES IN PERU LAST NIGHT; LIVED THERE 48 YRS.
Joseph Bauer, for many years a well known resident of Peru, passed away at ten o'clock last evening at the family residence, 1016 Peoria street, in the sister city.
A year ago Mr. Bauer suffered a paralytic stroke, which recurred last Sunday night and left him in a helpless condition. Members of his family were at his bedside last night when the end came.
Born in Germany on Nov. 2, 1854, Mr. Bauer came to the United States when a youth of eighteen. He immediately established his home in Peru where he has resided since. For many years he was a teamster in the employ of the Illinois Zinc Co.
Surviving besides the widow are seven daughters: Mrs. Joseph Koster of Houston, Tex; Mrs. Edward Rottner of Los Angeles, Cal.; Mrs. Lucas Miller of St. Ann, Cal.; Mrs. Gus Fiedler of Spencer Ia.; Mrs. Frank Grajewski of LaSalle; Mrs. Joseph Regan of Maywood, Ill.; and Mrs. Clinton Siebert of Peru.
Mrs. Rottner, who moved with her husband and family to California recently, returned in time to see her father alive.
Funeral services will be held at St. Joseph's church in Peru Saturday, with burial in St. Joseph's cemetery.
