She grew up in Sawyer Holler and attended a one room school house that used to be located across the street from Glendale United Methodist Church. Clemmie's ancestors built Glendale United Methodist Church in the late 1800s.
Clemmie married U.B. Wishart, a commerical pilot for American Airlines in 1942. They moved to New York City where he was based for over 30 years. She had two children, Kay Stenberg of Chicago, Ill. and Hugh Wishart of Albuquerque, NM. Clemmie was challenged over several years after her daughter became a paraplegic due to contacting Rocky Mountain Spotted fever. It was her loving care which helped her daughter recover to the point of being self sufficient. In her 30's, Clemmie developed an interest in art. She took oil painting lessons from several artists in the Hudson River Valley-New York area. Her work was displayed in numerous art shows in that region and she sold a lot of her work. To friends and family, she often gave away her work if someone happen to admire a painting.
Clemmie had a tender heart towards people and always gave a listening ear, words of kindness and a gentle touch to anyone in need. Her loving spirit and southern charm attracted many friends into her life.
She is survived by her two children, Hugh Wishart and Kay Stenberg; two grandchildren, Kami Wishart and Daniel Wishart; brother, Lynton Sawyer of Morristown; several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 26, 2010 at Glendale United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Glendale United Methodist Church.
Arrangements by Allen Funeral Home in Morristown.
