Ex-Governor Kin, 77, Dies

Marie Crounse Bowen Dies In Washington, D.C.; Burial at Calhoun

Mrs. Marie Crounse Bowen, 77 years old, daughter of a former Nebraska governor and a native of Washington County, died at her home in Washington, D.C., Sunday after a long illness.

Mrs. Bowen was born at Fort Calhoun in 1878. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lorenzo Crouse. Lorenzo Crounse, a Republican, was governor of Nebraska from 1893 to 1895.

Mrs. Bowen moved to Washington in 1943 with her husband, Col. William Storrs Bowen, U.S. Army, retired.

Surviving her besides her husband is a sister, Mrs. George C. McIntyre of La Jolla, California. There are two nieces, Mrs. Henry Doorly, wife of the Omaha World-Herald publisher, and Mrs. Gustav L. Stewart Jr. of Washington, D.C.

Funeral services for Mrs. Bowen are to be held in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday. Interment will take place next Wednesday in Fort Calhoun Cemetery, where Mrs. Bowen's parents and other family members are buried.
