American Indian Mohawk. She was born in Upper Mohawk castle of Canajoharie, New York. She was also one of the most powerful and infuential woman in the Mohawk Nation during the American Revolution. Her younger brother was the great mohawk chief of the Six Nations, Joseph Brant (Thayendanegea). She was married in indian tradition to Sir William Johnson, Superintendent of Indian Affairs. She is credited with not only maintaining British loyalty througout the Iroquois Confederacy but was responsible for the management of Johnson Hall. She died in Brantford, Ontario and was buried in the church burial ground of Saint Paul's Church in Kingston.
