Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan 7, 1942 for Lavonne Irene Knudson, small daughter of Stanley and Verla Knudson of Centerville SD. The little girl, who was six months and 15 days of age at the time of her death on Sunday, Jan 4, 1942, died suddenly after a short illness at a Vermillion hospital.
Services were held from the house at 1:30pm and from the Scandia Lutheran Church at 2 o'clock with Rev. Peter Ljostiveit officiating.
Pall bearers were four little boys, Vernon Holt, Kalmer Knudson, Boyd Ostrem, and Delmar Ostrem. Burial was in the Riverview Cemetery near Centerville SD.
LaVonne Irene Knudson was born June 19, 1941 to Stanley and Verla (Holt) Knudson at the home of her maternal grandparents, Thor and Rachel Holt near Wakonda SD.
She was baptized on Nov 4, 1941 at Immanual Lutheran Church by Rev. Peter Ljostveilt. Sponsors were: Mrs. Eldon Ward, and Mrs Marqerite Steadman.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by a sister Vera Marie, born July 22, 1939 and two sets of grandparents, Mr and Mrs Thor (Rachel Ostrem) Holt of Wakonda SD and Mr and Mrs Sigvold (Ruth Peterson) Knudson of Centerville SD.
LaVonne brought much joy and happiness to all who knew her in her short time here. She will be greatly missed.
Cause of death has been listed as Pneumonia and Infantile Convulsions.
